I was a little surprised to see the costumes, wondering aloud whether they had always been so steampunk-y, or whether that was an evolution of the look as the steampunk movement has, well, gained steam (no pun intended). The wikipedia article for Wicked told me that the costume designer went for "twisted Edwardian," so slightly later than Victorian. In other words, yeah, a little bit of steampunk from the get-go. And I would definitely LOVE to get to see those costumes up closer!
Of course, the side effect of going to Wicked is not getting home till 11:30 last night, and thus being absolutely exhausted today. It didn't help matters any that my work day yesterday involved driving an hour+ each direction for research, so as we were walking the last couple of blocks from the bus, I told Jeremy that it felt like I hadn't been home for days. Really, it was just under 17 hours, but that's about the same thing, right? :)
