So I have my whole "lack of caffeine" thing still going on... most of the time... :) I found out on Friday that Sunkist orange soda has caffeine in it. Not a whole lot, but I was still surprised about that fact... particularly since I had gotten Sunkist cuz I thought it _didn't_ contain caffeine! And it also doesn't help matters any that I am still eating chocolate from time to time. Not a whole lot, mind you. But seeing as the only kind of Blizzard I will get at DQ is chocolate-covered cherry... and all of my favorite other ice creams are something with chocolate in them... that's a little bit here and there...
Overall though, I'm doing pretty well with it. I'm drinking lots more water than I used to, even if it's not 8 glasses a day. That's a TON of water, when it comes down to it! It's good that I don't really even want soda most days... but there's those 4 cans of Vanilla Coke sitting in my fridge that keep calling out to me... so far I've resisted the urge, but it's not easy to do...
Found a REALLY funny list yesterday, but I left it at home, so I can't post it today... hopefully I'll get it up here tomorrow... oh, you will all be amused... yes... very amused... :)

I am so going to regret this later...
There's a can of Mountain Dew on my desk, and I've already had a couple of sips of it... yeah, it's waking me up alright! I figure if I'm going to drink something with caffeine in it, it would be better if it's not cola or otherwise brown soda... but I wish it didn't have to be Dew... that's a bit more caffeine than little ole me should be drinking... so it's gonna come back to haunt me (with a nasty caffeine headache) probably tomorrow or Sunday...
That, and it tastes nasty! I dunno how the Son of a Britsch can drink it all the time... YUCK!
But I kinda had to... I'm working on stuff today that I should be flying through... like, it could practically be done already, if my brain was functioning correctly... but instead, it's like... oh, look... pile of stuff on my desk... what was I doing with that again?
So now I'm getting better... good... :)

I'm finally to the extremely tedious part of working on a book--the final checking of the proof sheets. Making sure that the words are hyphenated nicely, that there aren't any stray lines that should be moved to the previous or next page, and making sure that the people at the press made the changes we wanted them to. Two articles down, 13 more to go.
It doesn't help matters any that I have completely cut myself off from all sources of caffeine. I had a kidney stone on Saturday, my second in five years. The last time I had one, the doctor told me that I should not eat nuts or chocolate, nor should I drink "brown" soda (read cola types). Well, I don't like nuts to begin with, so that was no problem. Chocolate was more difficult, but I definitely cut it back a lot. But soda was something that I couldn't do without. I was halfway through my master's at that point, and working like a mad woman on my thesis. Yeah, caffeine GOOD!
Well, I think now that it's a good idea to cut out the soda, except in very moderate amounts. So the last time I had a Coke was Sunday morning, and that was only because I honestly thought my head would explode if I didn't. I've been drinking tea about every other day, but it's not the same. And somehow water just doesn't have the taste or the "oomph" that soda does... :(
Needless to say, I've been grumpy lately... I'm hoping that I will get over that pretty soon, and be able to be normal again. Cuz trust me, I don't want to have another kidney stone! EVER!
