Last Dr. Seuss post for real. I was informed by a co-worker this morning that today is Dr. Seuss's birthday. So perhaps it was a strange quirk of fate that there's been all of this build-up to the completion of the fish.
Trina has challenged me to make the Cat in the Hat, Sam I Am, and Fox in Socks to go along with the fish. I know I can make the Cat in the Hat's hat very easily... but I'm still pondering the rest of the crowd. I just have this vague recollection of many Dr. Seuss characters (the fish included) being sort of spiky looking, so I think I'm going to have to round out the spikes to actually do this. Maybe amigurumi for all of the animals! :)
In other news, if you have ever read the graphic novel of "30 Days of Night" and are thinking about watching the movie, be prepared for a major letdown. Alternately, if you saw the movie and are thinking about reading the graphic novel, be prepared for a much better storyline. I haven't a clue WHY they made the changes they did. Steve Niles was even involved in the writing of the screenplay, and they couldn't get the story straight?!
Also, Josh Hartnett bothers me. A lot. I know the precise reason for this, but that doesn't seem to help me forget how much he bothers me. Plus, he always plays his character exactly the same... doesn't matter if he's a hitman, a random college guy, or a sheriff.

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

It's a rare Sunday post, only because I am SO happy with how these little guys turned out, that I had to post them today. :)
There was some household debate over how many fish should be in this set, but on reviewing the cover of this fabulous book, I found that two fish is totally separate from one fish, so it's not like a counting thing. There is one fish, and then there is two fish. Since there is also red fish and blue fish, that's five fish in this school. So I made the two fish slightly different shades of green, so they're not identical twins. :)
At one point, there was also going to be a bag to store the school of fish in, but then I discovered that I must have given away my fish print fabric. :(
We now return you to your regularly scheduled, non-Dr. Seuss-centric blog. At least for a little while. :) (I may even refrain from talking about fish for a little while!)

Hmmm...
It's been a fairly slow week for me, and that's not entirely a bad thing. Things are about to pick back up at work, though, so I guess that's something. And I have been getting quite a bit of crocheting done recently. Using up my yarn stash and making stuff to sell on Etsy. Rock on. :)
I'm really really thrilled with the newest creation, though, which is a new version of the cute fish that I posted here. The new one is stuffed, with yarn eyes. So a cute little plushie fish that's safe for little kids!
And I actually made a pair of them. A red fish and a blue fish. Yes, I am a Dr. Seuss fan, however did you guess? :)
(Which reminds me. Someday, in the future, if I have kids, I'm going to have to get my dad a supply of blank CDs and software so he can record himself reading ALL of the Dr. Seuss books. No one reads Dr. Seuss like my dad. Even when I was too old for those books, I'd still listen to him reading them to my sisters. :) )
In other news, I'm once again debating opening a second shop on Etsy. I keep telling myself that I don't need to open a second shop. But I'm out of sections in my first shop! And I keep coming up with names that amuse me. (And then I check them on Etsy to make sure no one else has taken them. :) )
