Ah, long weekends :)

One of the hardest things for me is the fact that between January 1st and the end of May, the only paid holidays are those days--New Years Day, and then Memorial Day, whenever it falls near the end of May. That's a long stretch of working every day! Granted, I had a lot of vacation in March, but there's something about having a long weekend WITHOUT travel. :)

Our normal Saturday afternoon game was called off, so we did some running around and a lot of just chilling out. Sunday was Jeremy's not-a-birthday-barbeque, which our friends were kind enough to host for us. It ended up being a nice, small, low key party, which was wonderful. Everyone who showed up, save one person, was a gamer, and the non-gamer was plenty geeky to keep up with the rest of us. :)

We also made what sounds like a horrid atrocity, but ended up being "actually, it's not that bad. TM." Tangria. Yeah, it's what it sounds like. Sangria with Tang instead of orange juice. The recipe I ended up using was:

1 bottle of red wine (750 ml. Three Buck Chuck works GREAT for this.)
1 1/2 cups of Squirt soda (or another citrus-y soda)
2 cups of Tang
slices of oranges and lemons

Everyone was SO skeptical of this creation, so they would get their ice, pour a glass, and then say "actually, it's not that bad." Thaddeus added the "TM" (as in trademark) to the end of the catch phrase. :) As it turns out, if you let it sit for about 24 hours, it moves from "not that bad" to "hey, this is good!" Lesson learned. Make it a day ahead next time. :)

Yesterday was a day I had set aside to work in my studio, which ended up really being about 2 1/2 hours at the studio, retaking photos of some of my items (till the camera battery started running low), retagging some others, and generally getting ready for the Punk Rock Flea Market on Saturday, June 5th. I will have a mix of items from both of my shops, with some clearance prices on some items that I would like to phase out.

And then I went home, finished writing one story, and got another 200 words written on another. Yeah, it's big time writing month at Netherfield of the Northern Reaches... whee! :)

Nope, this isn't a joke... yes, I'm actually awake... and yes, I've slept already. :) Witness, if you will, the amazing recuperative powers of the scary white girl... :)

So I get home probably about 2:15 or something like that... I'm EXTREMELY drunk, as is obviously going to happen when I down three and half wine cooler type things, and a shot of tequila in... oh, about an hour and a half... :) I've got a leftover chicken strip in the fridge, so I eat that and start reading some magazine on the table... then I decide that the living room floor is a great place to sleep, and lay down in there... and spill water all over the living room floor, and then eventually get to bed.

I wake up at 7:30 a.m., completely out of the blue (no neighbors getting honked at this time). I feel fine. I get up, get some ibuprofen and a vitamin, and go back to bed. But I'm not tired any more. So I get up, completely fine, take a shower, and now I'm here. And I'm hungry. So I'm gonna go eat now, and then come back and concoct some more evilness for Random Patterns.

Do I scare anyone yet? :)

It's nice that the Friday Five is back to being a regular thing! :)

1. Do you live in a house, an apartment or a condo? A house, which looks really tiny from the outside, but has far more space than we actually need on the inside. It's a bizarre feat of physics, or something...

2. Do you rent or own? Own! :)

3. Does anyone else live with you? The Old Man, and, for the summer, Ron. Come August, add Megan to that equation. :)

4. How many times have you moved in your life? Four times, if you don't count moving in and out of the dorms when I was in undergrad. I lived in the same house all my life, till I got my sweet apartment in K-ville, then moved to C-dale, then a second apt. in C-dale, and now my house.

5. What are your plans for this weekend? C-dale Garou tonight, Random Patterns tomorrow night, and dunno yet for Sunday. And some chores around the house interspersed with the gaming. :)

End of the Work Week Wisdom:

"All of my stories end in woe!"
--Jason G.'s sad life :)

Dedicated to the people I partied with last Saturday... :) And trust me, that quote is better than what I almost used... the things I hear on the radio... :)

Yeah, I'm actually blogging from home... odd, ain't it?

This weekend was AWESOME... I found out Thursday that Omar and Zach were coming down here... then Friday, Goog shows up at my office... so I had three old friends in town for the weekend! :) A bunch of us stayed up till like 4 a.m. on Friday, talking about old times... but then the next door neighbor got picked up for work at 7:45, so I was up by 8... :(

Started my new game on Saturday, which was AWESOME... the guys wanted Sabbat, so I gave them Sabbat! :) They told me about their character concepts on Friday night, so I decided to work with them... and make one of the most TWISTED packs I have seen... and then everything just fell into place... :) Gabe's sadist / nymphomaniac Toreador AT and my NPC masochist Malkavian AT got 10s for each other on the Vaulderie roll... so their little fun and games made things quite interesting... :)

So then we get done playing, and decide to run to campus to see who went to the interim LARP... not a lot of people, but everyone wanted to go drink... I had nothing better to do (and one drink already in me), so I was 'bout it... ;) I would now like to state, for the record, that drinking games are evil, and a bunch of people need to take drinks because of that! Too bad I never was President... :( But it was an absolute blast, and walking to Denny's at 5 a.m. is always good... well, actually it's not good, but it was a good time! :)

So I'm really tired, despite about 6 hours of sleep this morning... at least I'm doing pretty good (or better) with typing now... I really should do laundry now, and hope that I can find something to do later tonight...
