Whew.

We survived the month of too much travelling. Now I'm just staying put until work tells me I'm travelling again... but I think I've got at least 3 weeks at home, for which I am very grateful. :)

I wore my pair of Cthulhu bun covers for a few hours on Friday night, and discovered that as my hair has gotten longer, they're a little snug. So I think I'm going to be creating a slightly larger size for people with longer, thicker hair, like me. So I'll probably be making larger bun covers of all varieties, at least when I get the chance. So much to do, so little time! :)

This week's non-crafting project involves us trying to get a handle on our "office," which would probably be the dining room in most people's houses or apartments. But really, the little space where the computer lives would probably be too small for our dining room table, and the spot in the living room where the dining room table lives probably doesn't have any internet hookups. So we make due with what we've got. :) We're going to try to get the office slightly more functional as an office space, and hopefully open up a bit of closet space for more of my craft stuff. :)

And of course there's also the 8 billion other things that we need to get done. But the only way to tackle it is one at a time. And the office has been bad for too long. :)

I slack, therefore I am

Actually, I can blame my lack of posts on my lack of actually being in my office. :) I've had a bunch of vacation recently, with more to come soon!

We spent the first weekend of October (including Friday and Monday) in Portland for the H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival. This was mainly something that Jeremy wanted to do, but I ended up having a blast as well. I made a pair of Cthulhu bun covers and wore them on Saturday, and within 5 minutes of finding seats for the first movie block, I was handing out business cards. Now I just have to finish making the pairs for my shop, so the people who I gave cards to will have something to buy from me. :)

Tuesday I worked half a day and took the afternoon off, and Wednesday I went in late so I could take one of our cats to the vet. She was having some digestive problems on Monday when we got back, and as she is a rather elderly cat (Jeremy thinks she's 14. She might not be quite that old.) we thought she should see the vet. She's doing much better now, and we're awaiting test results to see if she has any ongoing issues that we should be taking care of. So I finally worked a full day today, just in time to leave for another vacation. :)

We're off to St. Louis tomorrow for a long weekend, so that we can attend a Grant lecture in honor of my former boss, see all of my siblings and other family members, and see my friends from Carbondale. Jeremy is only mildly terrified of the fact that he'll be meeting my whole family and my best friends from "back home." I keep telling him he'll be just fine. I don't think he'll be convinced until we're there, or possibly not till we come home on Monday.

At least after that things will be mostly back to normal... oh, except for heading back to KC for a week. Yup, that's my life... I have this office, and I never see it. *sigh*

Things to do in Seattle this weekend

While I will sadly not be attending any of these events, there's still a lot of great shows going on this weekend in Seattle, technically starting tonight: check 'em out here.

I haven't done a craft show myself for what seems like forever. Since I've started traveling for work, it's rough to do shows. If it's the Saturday before I travel, I'm usually doing things like packing and getting the apartment ready for me being gone. If it's the Saturday after I travel, I get home late on Friday night, totally beat, and don't even want to think about doing anything. :)

I'm going to try to do a few shows as things ramp up towards Christmas, but I don't have any picked out quite yet for certain. I do know that if there's a Punk Rock Flea Market in the near future, I definitely want to be there... of course that's provided that it's not the day after Halloween, which is the one weekend I can't do any shows, because I'm going to be in Illinois. :)

In the meantime, there's something kind of amusing about making four pairs of eyes for plush Cthulhus, and then holding them all by the "tails" and shaking them around. Or maybe I'm the only one amused by things like this... or I may have been delirious from making four pairs of crocheted eyes in a row... :) But there's something logical about making up the extra pieces for plush Cthulhus in advance, especially when you're making a whole bunch of them at once. :) (And yes, this also involved making 4 pairs of wings and 4 sets of tentacles. And no, I'm not done with them yet... but when I am, there will be a photo of a basket of Cthulhus... :) )

Priceless. Particularly because W'raa got me one of these cute little critters for Christmas this year... :)
