Whee! :)

So through bizarreness, I ended up with a new-to-me phone and new earbuds last night. Jerome has joined the ranks of the iPhone masses, though luckily he didn't have to wait in line for a bijillion hours for a 3G. :) I will hopefully be joining the iPhone masses in February, when our old cell phone contract is up.

In the meantime, though, I took Jerome's old phone, because it's about 2 years newer than the phone I'd been using. Still getting used to all the weirdness of switching phones, and I think my fingers nearly fell off from moving my contacts from my old phone to this one. :) I still have my old phone for 6 more months, of course, but at this point, it's not worth it to cancel our old contract. So 6 more months of an Illinois number, and then I'll get a new Washington number. w00t! :)

And as for the earbuds, I got a pair of the shiny Apple earbuds, the kind that go into your ear. At first, it reminded me of the sensation of a doctor looking in your ears with that magnifying tool thingie. Then I turned my iPod on, and it was like the music was being beamed straight into my brain. I love it. :) Anything that allows me to ignore inane conversations around me on the bus makes me the happiest girl ever. :)

In other news, we're seeing The Dark Knight at 12:01 tomorrow morning, because we are those freaks. This will actually be the first time I've ever done the 12:01 movie thing, believe it or not. I'm napping when I get home from work, and already told them I will be late tomorrow. :) And, because we REALLY are those freaks, we've also got tickets to see it at Cinerama on Saturday night (Friday was already sold out). That movie had better not suck... :)

Question for Mac people

Do I have any of those here? :)

Okay, so Jerome's dad gave him an iTunes gift card, and he bought an album which he downloaded to his Mac laptop. He tried to move it to the desktop (or, more specifically, the external hard drive) so that we can add it to the main iTunes on the desktop. But every time he tries to play it, it wants his password, and then won't play anyway. It says that he's successfully authorized the computer (he can authorize 5 computers, and is only at 3, which is confusing), but it won't play. The desktop is a PC, but that shouldn't matter, right?

He also can't burn it out to a CDR, which was my solution to fix the problem. He should be able to burn something like 5 copies of the CD before you have to resort to other methods of sharing it (at least you could 2 1/2 years ago). This doesn't seem to be a problem with his CD burner, as he burned a different CD with no problem.

Any ideas/solutions? I really want this album on my iPod. :(

UPDATE: In case anyone reading this is similarly looking for the solution to the second issue, it turned out that all he needed to do was run the lens cleaner (which I guess I had bought for the DVD player a while back) through his computer, and all is good now. No clue WHY it worked for the 1 CD he burned, but not all of the attempts of the other one. But it's solved now.

My iPod knows what's going on...

I thought about putting my iPod on ONLY They Might Be Giants songs today, but I decided against it. Instead, it's on random, like it is most days.

I think it's played at least half a dozen TMBG songs in about 3 1/2 hours. This is not entirely surprising, if you know how much TMBG I have on my iPod, but I'm definitely noticing it more today. I know that my iPod can't REALLY be psychic, but I often attribute it with such a skill. :)

So yeah, They Might Be Giants show tonight, and YAY! I am excited! :) If you like TMBG, and have never seen them live, you have to make every attempt to do so. Seriously. Their music is so much fun in general, and it becomes at least 10 times more fun in concert. I think there have been studies done to prove this. :)

It's Wednesday already, and I'm very pleased with that fact. Even if it does mean that I have to run around like a madwoman tonight. Well, that's more because I had decided on a couple of things that I was gonna do tonight, and then had a couple more added on top of that. Not complaining yet, just trying to situate everything so that it all gets done. :)

One of these days, I really need to take my CDs home from work and rip them to my computer. And then, put them on my iPod. And then, I really won't need CDs at work anymore... hurrah for iPods! :) Maybe I'll do that Friday, since my Saturday appears to be wide open at the moment... I'm sure that will change... it always does...

But tomorrow, dammit, I'm gonna make bean bag thingies, and work on my quilt, and that's about it. Maybe watch a movie. Basically, though, not run around. :)

I think soon I will have a rant about mislabeled songs on LimeWire, because Bobert asked me if I liked The Cure's version of "Tainted Love" better than Marilyn Manson's last night. And then pointed out that I had two messed up tracks on the latest Lacuna Coil CD. *grumble*...

Two parts for the post today: one about the weekend, and one about me being a consumer. Hurrah! :)

The excursion to St. Louis was a great time, and I got to do all of the things I wanted to do, too! :) Grant and I went to Laumeier for a little bit when we first got there, and wandered around. Cromlech Glen is still technically closed, but we checked it out anyway. It really is one of my favorite places in the whole world. :)

After that, we went and wandered around the Loop, both of us finding CDs to buy at Vintage Vinyl, and spending a whole lot of time at Phoenix Rising. I used to really like that store, when it was mostly sort new-age-y stuff. Then it got really pop culture-y, and I didn't like it so much. It's still more along the pop culture-y lines, but I think I've learned to appreciate it for what it is, and not lamenting what it used to be. So we browsed for a good long while, and I, surprisingly, did not buy all of the pirate stuff... :)

We got dinner with Megan, Robert, and Leslie at a Thai place, and it was tasty, though mine was a bit spicy... and I even got mild! Ran right across the street to the Pageant, and got pretty decent spots on the floor.

The opening act, Michael Leviton, was this geeky looking guy with a ukelele, with very clever lyrics. I liked him a lot. :) TMBG, of course, rocked. A good long set, with two encores, and they played "Istanbul," which is what really matters. I'm pretty sure they've played that every time I've seen them. :) Megan and I tried to start a conga line during "Dr. Worm," and failed, but then another one came by, so we jumped on. :)

I was so tired and so sore when we got back to C-dale, but it was so worth it. :)

After spending a lazy Sunday morning-into-afternoon recovering, Jesi and I went out shopping, and I finally bought myself an iPod. Yeah, I'm a little late in jumping on the bandwagon, but waiting this long meant that I could get a 60 gig, in black.

60 gigs. My iPod is bigger than my computer's internal hard drive. This makes me cry a little on the inside. But it also makes me happy, because I have ALL of the music from my computer on my iPod, and still have room to spare. Almost 8000 songs on there at the moment, and it's over 30 gigs... so I really did need the 60 gig version... :)

Still figuring out some of the details on how to make it do what I want, but I've got a basic knowledge of what I can do... luckily I know plenty of people who have had theirs for a while, and can help me figure out what I can't get on my own. :)

So I've got it set up on my desk, with tiny speakers which sound mostly like crap, but hey, it's slightly better sound than the internal speaker on my computer, I can listen to any song I own whenever I want, and I can stop burning so many CDs to bring with me to work... I can just load them onto the iPod and go from there... w00t! :)
