We finally picked up a copy of Lego Rock Band last night. While it is filled with much awesome, there are parts of it that leave me going "huh?"
1) The premise of the song selections for the game is to be more "kid friendly." I think this only means "eliminate any songs that have swearing in them." Alluding to sex and pagans? All good. :)
2) The song selection when you're first starting out SUCKS. The first 3 songs were by Tom Petty, T-Rex, and Supergrass. I only knew the first of those. The next 3 were by Bryan Adams, random emo band, and a weird band whose name I don't recall. Again, only knew the first song. We did get to do Queen and Elton John, which were more in my comfort zone, but really? I doubt kids are listening to T-Rex, Supergrass, or the other weird band.
3) I was terrified when we did a random song that, based on how few songs we had unlocked, plus the "kid friendly" ones the game had imported from my downloads and Rock Band 1, that we would get the "Green Grass and High Tides" song (which is one of the most difficult from Rock Band 1). We got lucky and didn't, though I think it may have been the song that tried to get Jeremy to fail out. :)
4) Oh wait, you apparently can't fail out... and there's a "super easy" mode that doesn't involve hitting the right keys... so you can just mash buttons and still win?!
5) Navigation is not nearly as clear as it is in the regular Rock Band titles. That was really frustrating for me, since I'm not much of a video gamer. Luckily, Jeremy was able to see places where I needed to "go" to do things. Really, a list would have been JUST fine. :)
Anyway, I'm complaining a lot about a game that I think I'm really going to love. If nothing else, I now can have "Let's Dance" in my regular Rock Band library. :)

Time to get things done

So the moves on Saturday went relatively smoothly. Despite Marcus swearing up, down, and sideways that it wouldn't be a move that he was involved in until something was broken, all of my stuff seems to have arrived at its new homes without incident. I did notice that he had to skip the final load so he could catch a bus home, so maybe I have that to thank for the antique vanity arriving in one piece. :)
Regardless, we managed to get the apartment mostly settled on Sunday, and I have really very little additional packing to do at my apartment... I'm just short on boxes! So the project for one night this week is going to be unpacking at my studio, to rescue the boxes I used and reuse them at my apartment. Ah, it's a neverending cycle!
The good news, though, is that I LOVE my studio. I had a temporary moment of panic when I realized that the sink was larger than I thought, and the desk wasn't going to fit where I wanted it. But the desk did fit in another small spot, so Jeremy can write in relative peace while I try to figure out how I'm going to unpack everything. He hadn't seen the studio until Saturday, and he also thinks it'll work just fine once we've gotten everything settled in there.
My major happiness for the weekend, though, was finally getting the living room at his apartment rearranged, and then having 5 people in there at once. It's a bit more crowded (we added 2 pieces of my furniture to the living room, while only removing one piece of his furniture), but I think everyone was happy to have a coffee table to roll dice on and set their drinks on. :) And we managed to have four of us playing Rock Band while Jeremy worked on his laptop, so there's even room for two guitars and a drum set. :)
Still can't wait for the rest of the apartment to be arranged, my apartment to be empty, and everything extra tucked neatly away into storage. Still a few more weeks till we reach that point, though! :)

Odd, but awesome...
So I woke up this morning with this really vague impression that I had heard something about a new Cure album. I wasn't entirely sure, however, if I had just dreamed it (entirely plausible) or if I had overheard it somewhere.
However, as it turns out, not a dream. It's real! :) The Cure is putting out their 13th album in September, and they've already started releasing singles from it! *happy dance*
In other news, I had a blast last night, as I somehow got tapped to sing while people played Rock Band. This was initially to do "Blitzkrieg Bop," but then it turned into a full time gig, as no one else really wanted the job. :) I guess I was better off doing the singing than the instruments, though, which were apparently complicated. I do have to say, though, that even with the lyrics and the relative pitch on the screen, I HATE singing songs that I don't know... and how is it that I don't have "I Think I'm Paranoid" by Garbage on my computer?!
And I rock at "Creep" by Radiohead. Yes, I know that song entirely too well. :)
