Hurrah for Friday!

Glad to have made it to the end of the week. As promised, the temperatures have dropped, to the point where we could actually sleep comfortably last night. I even ended up bundled up in a sheet by morning!

I'm anxiously awaiting the weekend, even though I know it will be a zoo. In the midst of all of the moving stuff we need to do tonight and tomorrow, we have two games and a photo shoot! Eek! The games are the usual pair of Exalted games (though there's a chance we're going to call off the second one and go to the EMP instead), and the photo shoot was originally so that Jeremy can hopefully get some photos he likes to use for writer's stuff. Lucky me gets to come along and get some pictures taken with him as well. :)

Because I am a dork, I've had my clothes picked out since I first heard we were doing these pictures. :) I'm going to wear the cute vintage dress I bought from Betsy at the last Punk Rock Flea Market--white with tiny black polka dots, with red and black felt leaves and acorns stitched on (to camouflage the sorts of flaws that vintage dresses often have). I totally love the black and white and red color combination, and it's the closest thing I'll probably ever own to a white dress. :) Now I just gotta convince the boy to wear something that matches what I'm wearing... he has a perfect shirt, which he doesn't like. *sigh* I'll post pictures (or links to pictures) when all is said and done!

Punk Rock and Fleas

In case you haven't seen the flyer, or wanted to know more about it, here ya go. :)

Every time I get the E-mail that they're having another Punk Rock Flea Market, I always get the application in the mail as fast as I can. One might think that this is a super awesome show that rakes in the big bucks for me. However, one might also be wrong in that case.

The first Punk Rock Flea Market was actually a total bust for me--I didn't sell a thing. I had a poorly lit spot that not a lot of people made it to. I was sharing the stage area with a record vendor and a political activist, and my display wasn't particularly flashy. I still signed up for the second one (which was considerably more profitable for me) immediately, and the current one is the third.

I do this show without fail for a couple of reasons, though. One is that it's for a good cause: the proceeds from the event go to the Low Income Housing Institute, which is a needed thing in a city like Seattle. Housing prices here are pretty well ridiculous, and only going up with every passing year. So providing options for those who need them is a good thing!

Another is that I really just like the whole feel of the show. It's held in the basement of an old punk venue, which is not the most appealing location in the world, but I like it. They also play music all day long, and it's great people watching as you see the mix of punks, former punks turned parents, and random residents of Belltown come through.

So yeah, if you're looking for something to do in Seattle on Saturday, stop by. It's a buck to get in, but it's worth it. :)

Ribbit!

Today, I was about halfway done with one experimental arm warmer, and decided that a) I really hate this stitch pattern, and b) I was not going to ever want to finish this pair. So I undid the whole thing. A bit of a waste of time, I suppose, but I hate having unfinished projects lying around, especially when I could be working on other stuff.

The weirdest thing is that I liked the stitch pattern before, but I think it's a pattern that works really well with some yarns, and not at all with others. You'd think just about anything looks good in a solid colored yarn, but to me it just looked boring.

Of course, I should be in super mega production mode right now, as I have one show on Saturday and another in a couple of weeks. This Saturday is the third installment of the Punk Rock Flea Market, which is always fun. :) I'll be there with the bottle cap belts, Decapitated Dollies, arm warmers, magnets, and more cozies than you can shake a stick at. (Stick not included.)

So let's see here...

1) We had snow this weekend! It was sort of big clumps of wet snow, and it didn't last long at all, though it did completely soak through our coats and jeans when we walked from the Punk Rock Flea Market to the bus, and then home from our bus stop.

2) Punk Rock Flea Market went very well for me, and also for the other EtsyRain folks around me. So that was exciting! :)

3) I got a Dresden Dolls patch and Jerome got a Misfits suit coat. No kidding. It's awesome, and it's the right length for his arms. This makes it a bit large on the rest of him, but who cares? :)

4) Stouffer's paninis = good. Red Baron paninis = not so much. If I wanted a sammich on dry toast, I could have made that myself. :p I'm just glad I only bought one of the Red Baron kind, because I had a coupon.

5) I organized all of my shipping stuff yesterday, using a bunch of old Capri-Sun boxes that I had been keeping around for mailing packages. But since very few of my items need to be shipped in boxes (and because I go through a box of Capri-Sun in a week or two), I decided they could be more useful as a little shelving unit. It is awesome, and I will take a picture of it soon. Not glamourous in the slightest, though. Cardboard and duct tape. :)

6) I'm featured on another blog today! :) This time, it's DharmaDesigns! :) I wrote an article about her a while back, and now she has returned the favor! :)

Whee!

TGIF and all that, though my day isn't over yet. I've got several things that could land on my desk at any moment, and a meeting at 2, and then off to Belltown to set up for the Punk Rock Flea Market. Then back home, to finish getting price tags on stuff, and finishing up one last bottlecap belt.

Last night, while Jerome was frantically scrambling to get a school project done, I was frantically going "do I have enough stuff? Is it gonna be too much to carry?" There's a fine line between the two when you're taking the bus to a show, but I think I'm right on that line, which is a good thing. I'm gonna try to draw up a custom order form tonight (if I have time), and otherwise just try to convince people to go check out my Etsy shop if I don't have what they're looking for. Tomorrow is the last day I'm taking custom orders for holiday gifts, though I'm crossing my fingers that I will get any of those. :)

Gotta start on another Jayne hat though, because the one in my shop sold right after I finished my breakfast this morning. I wanted to take it with me to the show tomorrow, but ah well. I'm happy to have sold another one. (That's 2 this month, and 4 in the past year, just on Etsy. I think I sold 2 more off Etsy. :) )

Sunday is going to be spend taking a LOT of photos of new stuff and retakes of old stuff. I think Nadia is gonna start earning her keep. :) Mostly, I'm just hoping that she's a size 6 1/2 for shoes, because I have a pair of boots that might keep her standing up for me. :)

My thought for the day

I wish that whoever invented CDs had made them the same width as a standard letter envelope. Cuz then I could put my Netflix envelopes into the mail slot, instead of taking them downstairs.

(Yeah, pity me, I know. I have to go down one whole floor to mail them, and I don't even have to go outside. :) )

In other news, I am exceptionally glad that today is Thursday, even if we have to do some running around after I get home from work. Yesterday was a super long day at work, though today has been going by more quickly.

Tomorrow, we get to go set up for the Punk Rock Flea Market 2, though this does mean that I need to bring Jerome's music stand with me to work in the morning. This should prove vaguely amusing on the bus. At least it collapses into two pieces, which are relatively small. But I'm still gonna get odd looks, I suspect. :)

A music post a day early

Because this information is too awesome to not share right away:
Sex Pistols Reunite for One-Time Concert

It's not exactly the Sex Pistols, since Sid Vicious is long deceased, but it's still pretty cool to hear! And, of course, me being nowhere near London, I won't be able to see it in person. But I can hope for a TV broadcast or a DVD later on, right? :)
