My blog is ten years old today. My website is a bit older, because I bought my domain when I decided that having a website of my own was the way to go. I started blogging because a lot of my online friends were doing it. And though there have been plenty of breaks in that ten year span, I'm happy to say that my blog is still going strong.
It's amusing to look back at my old blog posts, and see how much I've grown from the person who started this blog. About half of the blog was written when I lived in Illinois, and the other half since I've moved to Seattle. There have been any number of hobbies and other craziness that has come and gone. But writing this today, I feel like I have a sense of direction that I was lacking ten years ago. I know I'm happier overall, but also busier and often more tired.
At any rate, here's to another ten years... probably more! I will always be the Scary White Girl. :)

Party planning

Luckily, Jeremy and I fly in the night previous, and we'll have a rental car (oh, if I remember to book that...). Of course, that also means that _we_ get to do all the running around at the last minute... whee! :)
My excitement for today? Ordering the cake. If it were a local place, I would have drawn up the design I wanted and given it to them. In this case, it's a bakery that Sarah recommended, of course in St. Louis. So I talked to someone who sounded a bit like a bored teenager, and am really hoping that she got all of the spellings down correctly (nothing too complicated, but you never know), as well as the design. I know that no one will care if it's not perfect, but I still WANT it to be perfect. *sigh*

Whee!
Day old chocolate cake = just about as good as fresh chocolate cake. Of course, I will also eat stale chocolate cake, as long as the icing hasn't gone too crispy. :)
So yes, my birthday yesterday was quite nice, and culminated with buying the collector's edition of "Serenity" and the regular version of "House of Flying Daggers." Now, when it comes to the latter, I really like "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "Hero" better, but all of them have such amazing cinematography and stunts that I wasn't gonna say no to completing the not-really-a-trilogy. :)
I think we're gonna be watching a whole lot more movies in the near future, since Lost is on a brief hiatus (not back on until April... *sob*). But I never mind watching more movies.
Speaking of, I just remembered that I wanted to post about this last week. I finally got to see "Marie Antoinette," which I had heard all sorts of bad things about (like it was horrible, not worth watching, etc.). Honestly? I liked it. I'm sure some people were deeply offended by the use of the 80s music throughout the movie, but that just made me happy... keeping in mind that I also LOVE Moulin Rouge. :) (And yet it bugged me that they were using modern music in "A Knight's Tale," though I think that is more in that they had characters reacting to said music.)
So yeah, not a bad movie. Kinda cute. Kinda funny. Loved the shoes, even if I would never wear most of them. :)

And another week begins...
I had a pretty good weekend, even if Saturday was very tiring. The Punk Rock Flea Market went super well, and I actually sold more at this one than I did before Christmas! I also talked to at least a couple of people about custom work, so hopefully that will come through. :) Need to work on how to better display the Decapitated Dollies, but I think between Jerome and I, we came up with a plan.
I think the main reason why Saturday was so tiring is because I was SO cold all day. Funny thing was that when we went outside to go home, I think it was warmer outside than it had been at my table all day!
Sunday I ended up staying at home and vegging (and crocheting) after a quick trip out to Ballard, where almost everything was closed. Silly Easter... I wanted more yarn!
Busy at work again, with one project theoretically taking up my whole week. It's interesting stuff, though, so that is good. :) Still no real definite word on when I'm traveling next, but I've already got people scheduling my time for next month, so that gets interesting...
And tomorrow is my birthday... yippie! Jerome works late on Tuesdays, so we are making cupcakes tonight so I can have those for breakfast tomorrow, and I'll probably make penne aribiatta (which I can't spell) for dinner, since I like it and he doesn't. (He eats dinner at work on Tuesdays.) And I suspect there will be cupcakes at work, though I have to pretend to be surprised if there are. :)

Only one thing to be said today...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MEGAN!!!!!!!!
For those who don't know, Megan is my baby sister, if "baby" is allowed to mean "23-year-old." Of course, since I'm *cough* years older than her, if "*cough*" is allowed to mean "old enough to remember her being born," I remember when she was born. :)
Ah yes, I distinctly remember being told, early in the morning as my dad got my brother and I ready for school, that we had a new little sister. My brother and I burst out into tears. We had wanted a brother to even things out. I suspect we even asked if she could be taken back.
True story: when my mom had her ultrasound done while she was pregnant with Megan, the doctor looked at the ultrasound picture and told her that she would be having a boy. My mom believed the doctor, and told us we would have a brother. As it turns out, Megan was apparently doing gymnastics in the womb, and had gotten her umbilical cord wrapped between her legs... oh. In other words, was not a boy. Just an ultrasound boy.
I never get tired of telling this story. I also sometimes tell our mutual friends to call her "Andy," because her name would have been Andrew if she had been a boy.
Okay, so despite all of the silliness, I'm glad I got a baby sister 23 years ago. And I miss her muchly, since I haven't seen her since May!

Ah, only my sister... Megan just called me to get directions to the Lemp Mansion. She's apparently driving around in St. Louis with Dad, and called me to see if I knew how to get there. Of course, I had no clue, but I did have the powers of the interwebz, so I got them directions. Go me! :)
(Oh, hey, now it makes sense... Dad's birthday is Sunday... that's why she's in St. Louis! :) )
Tis Friday, and I am happy. :) Scion tonight, Changeling and Vampire LARPs tomorrow night. w00t and such! :) Aside from that, I have a bunch of writing to do, and perhaps I should work on some crafty stuff at some point. Perhaps. :)
In the meantime, though, it is the birthday of one of my co-workers today, and she is ordering in a massively huge lunch for the office, involving all sorts of tastiness. I am sure I will be stuffed at lunch, and then eat more in the afternoon before I go home. :) Today is also Aiden's birthday (my friend Assie's son), though he will not be giving me lunch or any other meal. It's okay, he's only 2. :)
I haven't done End of the Work Week Wisdom in entirely too long, and I don't have any great ideas at the moment, so I'll leave you without it for this week. I'm hoping to get back in the habit again soonishly, however. :)

Alright, I'm back at work, and my work weeks for the foreseeable future look relatively normal. Weekends in April are another matter entirely, of course, though I'm a little confused about what is going on this weekend... I'm hoping to hear an answer to that question really soon, though, because if I'm NOT going to Chicago, well, then, I'm making other plans. :)
My birthday weekend was chock full of happy goodness. Friday, I went to Brat Pack with Jesi and Kent, though Jesi and I left after the first set, because we were both exceptionally annoyed with the drunk bar patrons in front of us. And see, that's why I don't go to the bars. Because a) I don't really like people, and b) the people that go to the bars annoy me especially. There are some exceptions to this... like I've generally enjoyed the few times I've been to Traz / Upside Downtown. But that's an entirely different crowd... for specific reasons... :) (And obviously, I do like some people. I call them my friends. :) )
Saturday, Megan took me to lunch, and then she, Cindy, and I drove down to one of the wineries, and had fun sampling bunches of different wines. Then back to C-dale for some shopping at Goodwill, and then running around to get ready for game. Game was fun, though I did discover that my new dress that I love very much gets a wee bit uncomfortable after a bit... partially due to having to keep my posture really good to keep the straps on my shoulders, and partially because it's kinda odd for me to wear a dress that kinda makes it so that I'm falling out of it... yay cleavage, right? :)
Anyways, party after game was a good time, though I didn't drink a whole lot. I kinda got to a certain point, and went "ya know, I should stop now." Always a good thing to be able to acknowledge.
Sunday was a pretty lazy day, though I did get to spend the bulk of it in very good company. :) Watched "Legend" as well, which is always enjoyable.
Monday, I did nothing. Or at least it felt like it. I did get my laundry done, and tidied up around the living room a bit, but I mostly spent the entire day chatting with assorted people. Got dinner with Jesi and Lyle, missed dance class, and then watched wrestling. Whee! :)
And so that's about it. Oh, I suppose the pressie list is always fun. :) The first LXG graphic novel, an Inigo Montoya T-shirt, a Serenity T-shirt, margarita glasses and a cute little plastic bar set type thingie, a neat candle in a purple box, an Egyptian business card holder, a piece of flat amethyst, and a gift card for Hot Topic. Still waiting on my card from Mom, which I suspect may include a gift card of some sort as well. :)

Hmmm... no good ideas for End of the Work Week Wisdom, so I guess that means there isn't any. Because the one thing I can think of involves a pet gazelle and frat boys, and, well, it was funny as hell at the time, but I don't think it's quite appropriate for public consumption... :)
Very much looking forward to this weekend, though. OWBN formal Elysium tonight. Probably watching some Firefly tomorrow, and then going to the salsa dancing thingie tomorrow night, for Becky's b-day. Sunday will be football-y goodness. :)
And, of course, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BECKY!!!!! Welcome to the exclusive club of which I will be a part for only another month and a half or so... ;)

Hmmm... wrestling last night was mostly tolerable... not great, by any means, but mostly tolerable...
Tonight, going out with Cindy and Shannon for a little while, cuz it's Shannon's b-day... not gonna stay out too late, or I'll be tired as hell tomorrow... and that's no good...
I should go start working on the subject files now... but it's really tempting to stay at my desk and do other stuff... which would be mostly slacking off... :) But no, I'll probably go start working here shortly... everyone else is finally getting in to the office, now... it's only 20 after 8... I've been here for 35 minutes already!
And wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :)

Friday Five from home! :)
1. Would you consider yourself an organized person? Why or why not? Well, I do think I'm pretty organized... but, well, just read the rest of the questions...
2. Do you keep some type of planner, organizer, calendar, etc. with you, and do you use it regularly? Yeah, I have a planner... I'm really good at using it when I'm in school, especially for keeping track of assignments... when I'm not, it just sorta sits around...
3. Would you say that your desk is organized right now? HAH! Not in the slightest! Aside from stuff that would normally be found on desks (pens, computer stuff, a few books), I can currently see a bag of bells, a coupon for Godfathers, my magic 8 ball, lip gloss, and more CDs than you can shake a stick at... and that's just the surface of my multi-level desk... At work, it's more of the same...
4. Do you alphabetize CDs, books, and DVDs, or does it not matter? I used to be very anal about that, as far as CDs and DVDs go... it's a good thing, really, cuz it makes them easier to find... but now, with CDs in 4+ locations in my apartment, it's not as big of a priority... I'm still anal about organizing my White Wolf books though... it's all by WW number... and I can tell when something is out of place... :)
5. What's the hardest thing you've ever had to organize? Dunno... I don't usually see organizing stuff as hard...
::..::
And, of course...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GABE!!!!! :)
